Distribution

There are several institutions that produce similar films. The ones I have researched are Lionsgate (Saw, American Psycho, Hostel) and Film Four/UK Film Council. I have chosen them because they are known for picking up small independent films with small to medium budgets. Lionsgate has produced similar slasher horror films such as Saw, which is a good example of a movie with a small budget(1200000 USD) that became very popular. Film Four also supports small independent projects in the UK, some of them end up being quite successful and distribited by other institutions in the US.
